DIB cuts the grocery and school-fee cashback caps on its Consumer Cashback cards

Since 10 October 2026, DIB's Consumer Cashback Reward card pays at most AED 200 a month on supermarkets and on school fees, down from AED 300. The Platinum card's caps fall from AED 400 to AED 300. The AED 1,000 monthly total is unchanged.

Dubai Islamic Bank has lowered two of the category caps on its Consumer Cashback cards, from 10 October 2026. The cashback rates stay the same. What falls is the most you can earn each month on supermarkets and hypermarkets and on school fees.

The change is footnoted on both of DIB’s card pages. Kredit.ae first reported it in July. The figures below come from DIB’s own pages.

What changed

Monthly capReward card (3%)Platinum card (4%)
Supermarkets & hypermarketsAED 300 → AED 200AED 400 → AED 300
School feesAED 300 → AED 200AED 400 → AED 300
Total per billing cycleAED 1,000, unchangedAED 1,000, unchanged

The other categories keep their caps. On the Reward card that is car servicing (AED 300), Etisalat and du bills, fuel, and utility bills (AED 100 each), and Salik and Nol top-ups (AED 25). On the Platinum card it is car servicing (AED 400), Etisalat and du bills, fuel and utility bills (AED 150 each), and Salik and Nol (AED 50).

The spending floors are unchanged too. You still need AED 3,000 of retail spend a month on the Reward card, or AED 4,000 on the Platinum, to earn any cashback at all.

What it costs you, in dirhams

The new caps arrive sooner:

  • Reward card: 3% hits the new AED 200 cap at about AED 6,667 of monthly spend in the category. It used to take AED 10,000.
  • Platinum card: 4% hits the new AED 300 cap at AED 7,500. It used to take AED 10,000.

The most a household can lose is AED 100 a month in each category. If you spent at least AED 10,000 a month on both groceries and school fees, you could lose AED 200 a month on either card. If you spend less than AED 6,667 a month on groceries with the Reward card, or less than AED 7,500 with the Platinum, nothing changes for that category.

School fees are where large monthly bills appear. Families who pay a term’s fees in one go on the card will feel this most, because the cap is monthly.

Our card page

Our DIB Consumer Cashback review now shows the new AED 200 caps for supermarkets and school fees on the Reward card, updated on 13 October 2026. We do not cover the Platinum card separately.
